Electromagnetic Waves: A Silent Killer of Bird Populations?

How electromagnetic waves reduce birds population ?

by manjul kc

The population of birds has been declining steadily in recent times. One of the factors that contributes this decline is the increased use of electromagnetic waves. Further, we are surrounded by such types of waves . Such waves are a form of energy that is generated by electrical and electronic devices, such as cell phones, Wi-Fi routers, and power lines. While these waves have revolutionized communication and made our lives more convenient. It is also harming bird populations

Birds are highly sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. Their bodies use electromagnetic fields for navigation and communication. Further, they use the Earth’s magnetic field to navigate during migration. They use electromagnetic signals to communicate with one another. Now a days, such signals ad wave are everywhere . The high levels of electromagnetic radiation disrupts their navigation and communication abilities. That can lead to disorientation and confusion. This can make it difficult for birds to find food, mate, and nest. So, it can ultimately lead to a decline in their population.

One of the ways that electromagnetic waves may be affecting bird populations is by disrupting their circadian rhythms. Circadian rhythms are the biological rhythms that govern the sleep-wake cycle in animals, including birds. Studies have shown that exposure to electromagnetic radiation can disrupt the circadian rhythms of birds. That leads to sleep disturbances and other health problems. Further, it disturbs the reproduction cycle which ultimately affects the bird population.

Another way that electromagnetic waves may be harming bird populations is by interfering with their ability to navigate. Birds use the Earth’s magnetic field to navigate during migration. However, exposure to high levels of electromagnetic radiation can disrupt this ability. Researchers found that homing pigeons were unable to navigate properly and became disoriented. It is due to the exposure of electromagnetic waves.

The power lines and other electrical infrastructure may also be harming bird populations. Power lines can be electrocute the bird that come in contact. However, cell phone tower are the infrastructure with highest killing rate. It is because it interferes with their ability to navigate. In addition, power lines and other electrical infrastructure can create electromagnetic fields that can disrupt the circadian rhythms of birds and interfere with their ability to communicate. So, they are the key sources of such harmful waves.

Finally, electromagnetic waves are not only factors that is boosting population decline. There are other factors too. They include Global Warming, Deforestation, Climate Change and Urbanization. If we are truly nature lover we must help those innocent birds. They are not advanced as human so we have to help them re-gain their population density. On the other hand, electromagnetic waves should be controlled. Human must create another safe medium as alternative of such waves. Truly, we have to do something. Otherwise, there will be no birds in the earth within few centuries.
